- Project description:
Today networking and technology have become integral parts of our daily lives. From an early age, individuals engage with computers, smartphones, and the Internet, making them essential tools for personal and professional development. Education plays a vital role in providing children with the opportunity for a better life, leading to well-paying jobs and fostering personal, social, and professional success. . EYES FOR THE WORLD
History:
After many years of contributing to Ladies’Circle International’s Service Projects, the Agora Club International board and councillors decided it was time to launch ACI’s own International Service Project.
In 2014, an international pilotproject called “Eyes for the World” was launched. This Belgium-based organisation developed self-adjustable spectacles for children. The project was initiated by Veerle De Jonge and Sandy van Niekerk in the Limpopo region, a rural area of South Africa. Its target group consisted of OVC (Orphaned and Vulnerable Children)—the poorest of the poor, including disabled and abused children.
The pilotproject deeply touched the hearts of Agora members worldwide. Following its presentation at the ACI Annual General Meeting in 2015 in Milan, Italy, it was officially elected as the first-ever ACI International Service Project.
